Christy's Wedding

A few weeks ago we went around for Christy's Bacherlette party. The rest of the photos are of Kelly, Courtney, and I in Hutchinson. The night before she was married it snowed and we were all bundled up. We headed to the Cosmosphere, and watched "Hurricane on the Bayou" in the Imax theatre. That was really cool, and Kelly and I raced pennys! Then on Saturday Christy married Corey. They have been together for 8 years, all through high school and college! Our friend Morgan did the Grand March with me, since there weren't any single guys around...and then I danced with Christy for one song, so we could catch up. She's been so busy with her new job and getting married.

more easter goodness

This is my easter egg- Catherine taught us to color a design with Crayons and then dye it! So, mine is of the world. The other photos are from our drive down highway 18- Garden of Eden, and then we went to Catharine, KS to see how they really spelled the name. We had 2 different atlas', and we weren't sure which was correct.

Easter 2007

We mostly hung out at grandpa's- Sherri feed us way too much good food. We watched Fiddler on the Roof, went for walks. Jared and Catherine went to Scott City to hear Anthony and the Animals play. I was too tired, but it was so nice to be at grandpa's and not have to worry about homework.

our first baseball

You can tell how cold i am, i'm wearing a winter hat and it's april 3rd. the day before this it was 81 degrees. I am starting to worry about Kansas Weather.
This was the KSU vs. KU baseball game, on a Tuesday night.
We (Christi and I)left before it was over because we we're chilled, but KSU was ahead! and we got our ballpark hotdog for dinner!

Stingrays and Snorkeling

Mom- touching a stingray- the tops are all sandpapery feeling. Me holding a stingray- the bottom is smooth and not as scary as first believed!!
Mom and I while we were snorkelling!
Orman-one of our tour guides!!

Only a few feet under- the reef runs the whole way around the island!

Day tripping

We rented a car for a day and mom drove on the left side of the road...since this is a British Colony. So we went around the island and stopped at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Park, and there were Iguanas!! We ate lunch at Rum Point...and then drove back to Georgetown where there were many people from the Cruise ships that had stopped.

Out to dinner

Mom and I at the Westin Resort where we stayed, before we went to catch one of the local buses to a restaurant. The buses see you on the side of the road and honk, and if you need a ride, you wave your hand....much more entertaining than the more expensive taxis. Can you see the beautiful sunset behind us?!

arrival

This is the airport at Grand Cayman Island! The end of the runway was only 50ft. from the ocean...and as we got off of the plane, there was a band playing reggae! What a wonderful arrival.

Another season has come to an end

I am very excited for this year's March Madness. I did have high hopes that KSU would make it to the tournament, with 21 wins this year under new head Coach Huggins...but at least we will start filling the stadium next year.

So- Rock Chalk Jayhawk, go KU!!

Formal with TBH...

Shawn and I at dinner during his formal....at Little Apple Brewery.

St. Patrick's Day

Ross, Christi, Catherine, and I sharing stories and drinks at Pat's Bar for the occasion. I saw so many people out that I haven't seen in forever...they said I should go out more, but I usually prefer to remember most of my evenings!
PS- can you tell I've been tanning for 3 weeks, to get ready for Spring Break next week?

March here already?

This was before I went out this past weekend with Callie and the gang. I had bought a bottle of wine from Cotes-du Rhone (which was near where I studied abroad)! It was very dry and oaky tasting...I recommend it to anyone.
PS- there's a Rick Steves- Italy book on the floor:)

Mailboxes

So, this is Smitty's and I's favorite spot in Marseille, b/c it is so cool that everyone living inside this building has an unique mailbox!!
This is near the old port, but in the plaza to the north, on the way to the church on the hill.
So, this is one of my paintings i did and it is not as good as just hanging on my wall. but i guess you get the gist!

Villanelle

So, once again I had a poem I needed to write for class. So, I'm putting it under scrutiny again. This type of poem is a villanelle- can you find the rhyme scheme?!

My Villanelle

There was this dream I had, that took me to a garden
where Van Gogh had lived, and in it was this
very old tree, which was so tall and full of life

that felt as though it encompassed the whole area.
There was a high cement wall that served
as a fence, and it ran the whole length of one side of the garden.

It had ivy growing all along its top,
and it served to keep out the noise of the road
on the other side. But the garden itself, was still full of life.

Inside this secret old garden, there was a pond
where little goldfish merrily swam, while squirrels
played happily around them in the garden.

In the corner of the garden, Van Gogh was sitting
with canvas at hand, ready to paint
whatever landscape that would come to life.

Sometimes he waited all day and all night,
just to see the sun work its magic
and show him the paradise awaiting in the garden,
and then it would come, come to life.

my sonnet

so i had to write a sonnet for my poetry class, and one of my friends read it and said it was pretty good, so i figured i would post it on here!

Beyond the hills, did the suns raze recede
To leave the village in happy hues of red
With fishermen retreating back from sea
And children playing happily before their called to bed.

Life remains the same on shores of the Mediterranea
The days of summer here are so sweet,
Young lovers strolling the empty streets so happily
And smile at their find of this ancient Villes retreat.

The darkness arrives, and swallows up the sea,
Lights from the piazza shine down narrow streets,
To fall upon the eyes of cats with glee
And shine upon the cobblestones weathered from so many feet.

But with the night, the weather will not stay the same,
And the vacation is gone, just as quickly as it came.

KC

Christi won an award for her ad campaign, so we went to KC so she could get her award and afterwards there was a cocktail party, and then we headed to Bulldog- one of the bars downtown!
