italia

last week went to Veniezia and it was cold, but oh so much fun to celebrate carnival! Lauren and Iris came with me and we went on a program that gave us rooms and a bus to get there but luckily we were able to do our own thing! The first day we explored near Piazza San Marco and saw all the people dressed up in costumes and there were thousands of people cramed in together, which was good because it was cold outside! We found a park with a fountain frozen over and it had a statue of a soldier(looked like from the civil war) and there were mansions lining either side of the park. The next day we went to Barona (with the group) which is a small island near Venice and saw how the glass sculptings are made and color put into them!! I decided not to buy any because I figured the odds were good for it to break on the way home. At 8:30 pm we were supposed to meet the bus at Station Mestre which is on the mainland. We left the Piazza around 7 pm and then we got lost a few times. We met these Korean guys and asked for directions from multiple people. Finally we found the station and hoped a train to the mainland station!! And the bus ended up being late, so I guess we were fine; especially since we were some of the first people to arrive at the station.
