Villanelle

So, once again I had a poem I needed to write for class. So, I'm putting it under scrutiny again. This type of poem is a villanelle- can you find the rhyme scheme?!

My Villanelle

There was this dream I had, that took me to a garden
where Van Gogh had lived, and in it was this
very old tree, which was so tall and full of life

that felt as though it encompassed the whole area.
There was a high cement wall that served
as a fence, and it ran the whole length of one side of the garden.

It had ivy growing all along its top,
and it served to keep out the noise of the road
on the other side. But the garden itself, was still full of life.

Inside this secret old garden, there was a pond
where little goldfish merrily swam, while squirrels
played happily around them in the garden.

In the corner of the garden, Van Gogh was sitting
with canvas at hand, ready to paint
whatever landscape that would come to life.

Sometimes he waited all day and all night,
just to see the sun work its magic
and show him the paradise awaiting in the garden,
and then it would come, come to life.

Impressive. Picked up the pattern if that counts for anything...
